The internal podcast: what HR and communications teams need to know

Leadership updates people listen to on the commute. What the room, the workflow and the budget look like.

Internal podcasts work because nobody reads the intranet. A fifteen-minute conversation with a director gets listened to on the train. The barrier is never the idea; it is the fear that it will sound amateur.

The room

A small meeting room that can be booked for two hours a week. Two mics, a desk console, panels on two walls. No construction, and the room stays a meeting room.

The workflow

A communications coordinator runs the console after one training session. Recording goes straight to a shared drive. Editing is trimming the start and end, because levels and processing were set at installation.

Security

Recordings stay on your network. The console records to an SD card; nothing touches a cloud service unless you choose one.

Budget

An Essential Setup with equipment lands between $2,500 and $3,500 for most offices. Compared with one video production day from an agency, it pays for itself by the second episode.

Cities

We have set up internal podcast rooms in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa and Halifax, and guided remote installs for offices in Saskatoon and Moncton.

Book the free call and bring your facilities manager. Twenty minutes is enough to know whether the room will work.
