What a podcast studio costs in Canada (2026 numbers)

Three budgets, itemized. Where the money goes, what you can skip, and the one line item everyone underestimates.

Ask five vendors in five provinces for a studio quote and you get five documents that cannot be compared. Here is the same question answered the way we itemize it in a Blueprint: room, gear, installation, training.

Budget one: the solo desk, about $1,900

One dynamic broadcast microphone on a boom arm, a two-channel interface, closed headphones, a desk-mounted panel behind you. Installation is half a day. You lose nothing in sound quality compared with a bigger room if you sit close to the mic and keep the room soft.

Budget two: the two-host show, about $4,200

Two microphones, a four-channel mixer with per-host headphone mixes, a remote-guest path, and enough acoustic treatment to stop the room ringing. This is the Essential Studio in practice, and it is where most business shows live.

Budget three: the media room, from $9,500

Four to six positions, camera-ready lighting, treated walls and ceiling cloud, a rack with the interface and a small network switch. Two to three days on site.

The line everyone underestimates

Cabling and mounting. Cheap boom arms sag, unlabelled cables get swapped, and the first episode ships with one host on the wrong channel. We budget between 12 and 18 percent of the gear cost for installation, and it is the part clients thank us for a year later.

Want your own itemized number? A Blueprint costs $249 and comes with a list you can buy from us at retail cost or from anywhere else.
