The gear we install, and the gear we talk clients out of

A vendor-neutral list: microphones, arms, interfaces and headphones that survive daily use. Plus three purchases we see too often.

We do not resell equipment, so this list has no margin in it. It is what we mount most weeks in offices from Vancouver to Halifax.

Microphones

Dynamic broadcast microphones for untreated rooms; they reject the room and forgive distance. Condensers only in treated spaces with one speaker.

Arms and mounts

Low-profile arms with internal cable channels. A sagging arm drifts into the frame on video and changes the sound as the host moves. We spend more here than clients expect, and we have never been asked to replace one.

Interface or mixer

Solo shows: a two-channel interface. Two hosts or more: a mixer with individual headphone mixes and a mix-minus bus. Recording to an SD card as a backup is worth the extra hundred dollars every time.

Three purchases to skip

Every Blueprint ends with a list like this, priced at retail, that you can order yourself or hand to us to install.
